Filipino dating customs
The right to call her your girlfriend is earned when she said yes, in the Filipino culture it goes by the phrase “matamis na oo” which can be translated as the Filipino women saying yes sweetly to the guy as a way of accepting his love.
Although the right to call her your girlfriend is still earned, as long as you are sincere, you do not need to worry.
A common statement by Filipino men said to Filipinas: Gusto kitang ligawan. If she says anything that is not a no, you have the go-ahead to try your hand at winning her affection. You have to visit her at home in the evening and talk to her in the sala (living room) with her parents watching nearby. Don’t dare draw close to her or they will think you are manyakis (a sex maniac).
But there has to be a chaperone — maybe the mother or her yaya (the paid help who raised her) or the most trusted maid of the household who will carry the umbrella to shield her ward from the sun.
Just by merely showing your sincerity will help you win her heart successfully.
So what do you need to do to make her heart melt and eventually say yes to you?
Then maybe you could sneak a kiss on her cheek or she’ll let you hold her hand.
Maybe you could talk about your plans to elope and escape her strict parents.
